Dungeness

I went there on a cloudy day at the end of Summer last year. The location of one of Britain's nuclear power stations (and maybe another in Dungeness B), a mini railway resembling Thomas the Tank Engine, a rubber clad house and former home of Derek Jarman. It's a bleak, windswept place with a long row of houses along the coastline but not much else behind. You get the feeling there is something special here, but as with many of these aging coastal towns it takes time to reveal itself. The landscape at the end of the line heading towards the light house and power station is really something.

For some really nice photos taken in Dungeness you should look at 'Derek Jarman's Garden' with photos by Howard Sooly.
