Walton on the Naze, a small seaside town in the south east. Another town of faded charm and not much glamour. The long pier still stands housing the usual slot machine amusements sucking in the coins. The beach front is marvellously clean and overlooked by rows upon rows of beach huts.
Even with a sprucing up by the council you feel nothing has changed much in decades and neither do the aging residents want it. They probably take a lot from neighbouring Frinton, whose resistance to change was subject of a BBC television documentary.
